Remember your past leaders

- Hebrews 13:7

- Remember those who led you in the past. Those who pointed you to Christ.

- Continue to learn from what they taught you

- Imitate their faith

- We gain perspective by looking back.

Be steadfast in following Christ

- There is only one who can lead us perfectly.

- Hebrews 13:8

- We have a propensity to either be overly enamored or overly critical of our leaders.

- All human leaders are imperfect… but not Christ

- Joshua 1:7-8

- Hebrews 13:9

- Don’t be distracted by the next new shiny thing.

Submit to your present leaders

- Hebrews 13:17

- Not blindly following

- Our leaders will be held accountable

How?

- Hebrews 13:24

- Be committed to a local church

- In community

- Serving

- 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

- Be at peace among yourselves and with your leaders.

Key Passage: Isaiah 9:6

‘el (Hebrew: אֵל) - god or god-like one; mighty one. Mighty men: men of rank: heroes. Strength, power. God (the one true God)

gibbowr (Hebrew: גִּבּוֹר) - strong, mighty or powerful. A strong, brave and mighty person. By implication a warrior and champion.

He is divine

He was promised

He was wounded

Isaiah 53:4-5 - Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and He carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds.
- Pierced, crushed, punished, and wounded for us.

He is Triumphant

Jesus is the victorious one!

- By his death he destroyed death... and freed those held in slavery by the fear of death.
