The Kingdom has come near!

Seek first the Kingdom of God

- Matthew 6:33

- Seek His righteousness

- Righteousness and The Kingdom are don’t connected.

- Matthew 5:10

Peace

- Luke 2:14

- Proclaiming God’s coming Kingdom with a message of peace.

- We are now at peace with God!

- Romans 5:1

- That peace comes through Christ alone.

- We now posses the peace of God

- Philippians 4:6-7

- What kind of peace?

- eirene: a national state of tranquility, harmony, and safety. In a Christian context: the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Jesus, and so fearing nothing from God and content with his/her earthly lot of whatsoever sort that is.

- A fruit that we bear

- Galatians 5:22-23

How are you pursuing peace?

- Make every effort…

- Ephesians 4:3

- Strive for peace with everyone

- Hebrews 12:14

- Notice the connection between making peace and personal holiness.

Blessed are the peacemakers

- A pacifier

Live at Peace

- 2 Corinthians 13:11

- Live in peace and the God of peace will be with you

- If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Peace: a verb, noun, and adjective

Did Jesus say he did not come to bring peace?

- Mathew 10:34

- There are times when relationships are broken because of the difficult truth of the gospel, but they shouldn’t be broken because of YOU or ME.

- As far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Seek God’s Kingdom of righteousness and peace.

- Remember those who led you in the past. Those who pointed you to Christ.

- Continue to learn from what they taught you

- Imitate their faith

- We gain perspective by looking back.

- We have a propensity to either be overly enamored or overly critical of our leaders.

- All human leaders are imperfect… but not Christ

- Something that we can ONLY do by the power of the Spirit.

Hospitality

- Possibly a spiritual being.

- Possibly someone bearing the gospel.

Show genuine concern for those who are struggling

- We may not have the ability or words to make things better, but we CAN be present.

- What does this look like for us today?

- Certainly, it doesn’t mean we can do nothing.

Look at yourself

- What is weighing you down?

- Let us lay aside every hindrance

- Not necessarily sinful or evil things.

- Possibly even things we would consider to be good things.

- And the sin that so easily ensnares us.

- What is the sin that ensnares you?

- Unbelief?

Run with endurance

- Throw off whatever weighs you down

Consumerism is about:

- More for me

- Obsession

- Devouring

- We think WE are doing the devouring, but instead IT devours us.

Community is about:

- being on mission

- Responsibility

- Serving others

- Freedom

- Creating

Partnership

- God desires for you to be an active partner, not a passive observer.

- koinos: “All things in common” = common; shared by all our several

- koinonos: associate, comrade, companion, sharer, partner

- Not a wistful longing, but an absolute certainty.

- Proof, conviction, evidence

Faith is the thing by which we are approved

By faith we understand that God created everything

- Why? So that we can serve the living God
